Come aboard the reading promise: mighty engine

Scope

When I worked at Mighty Engine after graduating from college, I was tasked in assisting the Come Aboard the Reading Promise campaign. This endeavor was unlike anything I have been a part of before. As a team, we conceptualized and brought to life a Septa campaign for the Free Library of Philadelphia and Read by 4th. This campaign aimed to help facilitate reading in Philadelphian children while taking public transportation. I helped to design and illustrate for this campaign, along with researching appropriate accessibility practices for our work. Scope of work

There was no stone left unturned at Mighty Engine. One of our biggest tasks was to illustrate real Philadelphian children to use as our “Avatars” for this campaign. These kid-illustrations would teach other Philly children new words, conjunctions, riddles, and so much more.

As a small team, we had to design Septa bus interiors, exteriors, bus stops, subway interiors, exteriors, subway station signage, and wheat pasted murals to go in and around the stations.

Although the designers at Mighty Engine had their own tasks, everybody performed every task. So, I illustrated, designed, researched, and presented for this endeavor. I am so honored and thrilled to see my artwork on such a large scale, a part of such a huge campaign for millions to see.
